My name's Amy, I'm eighteen years of age, and I'm a student from London.

I like going to concerts, understanding the world, meeting people who I dare to call my heroes, correct grammar, and those nights that I will never remember. I'm also something of an artist and a musician, and I love to take photographs to preserve those most precious of moments.

Ode to Academic Life.

I have not been on Devi in approx. three months. All summer, to be precise. Neither have I done any personal art in that time; my tablet did not come back to life as planned and I am generally too distracted by little things called video games to set aside time to really get down to the dirty with paper and pencils. Life goes on.

I'm now in full time art education, so far I've had a rather tiring induction week, made a mod-rock cast of my hands and drawn the same naked woman about 30 times over. I might share some of it with Devi, make a college folder or something. Good plan, y/n?

Back to my love - I might buy a new graphics tablet out of my college fund, though it would have to be another cheap one and probably only have a 20 hour life span like my last one. But, photoshop to be the only medium I can wow people with other than a stick of charcoal or pencil on cartridge. Bring colour into the equation and I'm done for, so it seems a computer that makes colours look perfect for me is the only alternative. If only I had a spare couple of hundred pounds knocking about for a Wacom.

Oh well. Right now, I have a few new, firm friends, a dreadfully boring yet very insightful art tutor, a whole music department who say hi to me constantly which makes me look popular around college despite not being so, a supportive best friend, and a loving boyfriend. Stick that on top of the joy gained from playing old school games a psx emulator, going to a multitude of local shows and having drinking sessions with the bands afterwards, as well as seeing those bands who mean the most to me and all those other things that 18 year olds do; I'm not doing too badly on the life scale right now. I don't think I'm going to miss my past one little bit.

There goes my life rant. Now let's see if I can get some work done and maybe pass this year with flying colours. Har har.

"[To simplify] is very nearly the whole of the higher artistic process; finding what conventions of form and what detail one can do without -- and yet preserve the spirit of the whole.” -Willa Sibert.
